Welcome to my profile! I am currently working on ROBOLAND with my friend Nova.
We're using the game to learn about Unreal Engine and how to develop with it. We plan on completing the game since it has a story element to it but are unsure when it will be finished as progress is slow.
I am the Co-Lead Developer/Programmer and Nova is the Lead Developer. My job is to get the game working. I work with Unreal Engine's Blueprints, so a lot of nodes and lines connecting said nodes to make the game do the things we want it to do. This includes: Ai, Combat, Menus, Inventory System etc. The list goes on.
Another thing I do is the cutscenes you see in-game. Overtime I've been improving, trying to make the cutscenes look better and with more effort each time I do one.
Recently we changed the beginning of the game, so I had to make new cutscenes for it, and it definitely makes the game feel more alive. We brought in the model for a drone called Beta. Each keyframe for Beta has to be hand animated within the cinematic sequencer, which isn't too difficult but it's more about the time, effort and emotion it brings to the character.
Speaking of Beta, if you haven't guessed already I am the voice of Beta, the drone you meet at the start of the game. I use Audacity, an audio recording/editing program to record my voice and edit it to make Beta's voice come to life. I also edit Nova's voice for his character(s).
I also make the HUD/UI, so you can blame me for most of it if it's not good looking, but we're working to improve that in the future, hopefully. I make the buttons work, and make sure everything looks at least somewhat good enough to be called a User Interface, this includes the loading screen.
I bet you didn't expect this to be on the list. Yes I made just a few tracks, I used FL Studio to make them, one of them being inspired from the music artist, Ronan Asche; who was working with us. They made the music that sounds good, but they no longer make our music so I've had a shot at making some tracks myself. I'm sure more is to come in the future of music for ROBOLAND, but that is still left to be seen...
I've also recently started working on networking, making the game Multiplayer compatible. It's still quite some time before we'll add anything significant in terms of making a multiplayer gamemode, but it's not impossible.
Replication has been a task to deal with, but I'm getting the hang of it. We've pretty much transitioned all the features over to make them replicated, all that needs to be done now is to make a few new features for Multiplayer and it would essentially be ready for public release.
That's all I'll talk about for now on here, this is still a profile so I'll save the rest of the details for the updates themselves. ROBOLAND is downloadable so if you haven't checked it out, go download it and play what we have so far, it's a fun little project and I hope we complete it someday.
